Business & Innovation Mag revealed as finalist in journalism awards

BJA awards

Business and Innovation Magazine has made the finals of the first British Journalism Awards for Specialist Media.

This new set of awards has been launched as a subset of the British Journalism Awards to recognise great journalism being carried out on specialist and B2B titles – and by specialist journalists working in the mainstream media.

The magazine is a finalist in the category of Business Sustainability, sponsored by the University of Cambridge Institute for Sustainable Leadership. The category recognises and highlights the best journalism covering this subject area. Judges were looking for work which is revelatory, shows journalistic skill and rigour and which serves the public interest.

Nicky Godding, director and editor at NK Media Ltd which publishes Business & Innovation Magazine, said: “We are absolutely over the moon at making the finals in an award programme run by the highly respected Press Gazette.

“Our magazine editorial is drawn from fundamental research on businesses across the region. We mix regular content covering key geographical regions and industry sectors, with in-depth features on relevant topics. The magazine is highly visual. We invested heavily in good design and quality print, and the magazine always uses high quality imagery across our editorial pages.”

In just one year the magazine has not only established itself as the region’s top business magazine, but also attracted the unsolicited attention of an angel investor.

Across the UK there are around 5.7 million private sector businesses. London and the South East of England is home to just one million of them. However, those reading the national press could be forgiven for thinking that most UK businesses are based in and around London.

Nicky added: “There is a fantastically diverse economy outside London, and I take pleasure in revealing businesses and thriving business sectors which are embedded in their regions.”

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony on London on September 17.
