BrewDog opens new bar in Cheltenham

BrewDog opens in Cheltenham

Independent Scottish craft brewer BrewDog, cofounded in 2007 by James Watt and Martin Dickie, is set to continue its expansion with the opening of a brand-new bar: BrewDog Cheltenham.

Situated in The Brewery Quarter, at the heart of the city centre, BrewDog’s latest offering will serve 30 taps of draft beer, including BrewDog headliners, craft breweries from the south of England and further afield, alongside canned and bottled offerings both to drink in or takeaway. Keen to integrate itself into the community, the bar will also be offering two guest spots in their lineup to local breweries all year round.

As well as beer and cider, guests will be able to enjoy BrewDog’s burger and wings menu, including Vegan Mondays (2-4-1 on vegan or vegetarian main meals), Wing Wednesdays (unlimited wings every Wednesday) and Hoppy Meals for children. Sustainability is at the heart of all BrewDog bars, and so the entire menu is 50% plant-based.

Clearly environmentally and socially concious, BrewDog, a B-Corp certified brand, works to reduce their carbon footprint, and in 2020 cofounder James Watt announced that the brand was the “world’s first carbon negative beer business”. To date it has raised over £26m towards sustainable initiatives.

Using renewable energy, electric vehicle delivery and reducing airtravel allowed the business to reduce its carbon emissions by 35% per litre of beer, and the company instated a policy of “double offsetting” whatever they were unable to reduce – this means they take twice the carbon from the air that they produce.

James Brown, Managing Director of BrewDog, said: “We can’t wait to bring our cutting-edge craft beer to Cheltenham, a city with a long history of brewing. We think our ethos of sustainability will go hand in hand with Gloucestershire’s eco-friendly focus. With 30 beers on tap, including at least two local favourites, we’re excited to become part of the local community of craft beer lovers and the already thriving hospitality scene.”

We’re a proud Living Wage employer that shares 10% of our profits with our team annually and work hard to invest back in our local team of 25, as well as engage with local suppliers and community projects in the area,” he adds.

BrewDog Cheltenham officially opens at 12:00pm on Friday 25th February and can be found at Unit 3, The Brewery Quarter, Henrietta St, Cheltenham GL50 4FA, within the Brewery Quarter shopping centre, and as an extra treat, the first 100 people through the doors will be entered into a raffle to win a year of free BrewDog beer.
